PE

Physical Education and physical activity is an integral part of Sladefield and is embedded within our curriculum topics.

At Sladefield, we teach a variety of different sports and physical activities in order to improve children’s skills and it allows the children to make progression from one lesson to another. During the academic year we teach KS1.

Our aims are:

To ensure that all children have the opportunity to develop the confidence, competence and enthusiasm in sport. To participate in physical activity to establish and maintain an interest in regular physical activity as part of an active healthy lifestyle. To improve pupil, parent/carer and staff knowledge, understanding, experience of and attitudes towards participation in physical activity. To provide opportunities for children to participate in at least 2 hours of high quality PE and School sport each week. To ensure that physical activity provision in the school reflects the cultural, personal, social and medical needs of all children. We believe Physical Activity can contribute to the physical, social and emotional wellbeing of all children, young people and staff within the school and its community. Sladefield promote an inclusive approach to: • Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE), • Healthy Eating • Physical Activity (PA) • Emotional Health and Wellbeing (EHWB), including bullying Thus, the link between health, Physical Activity and wellbeing at Sladefield is well established. Our aims and potential benefits of regular physical activity and healthy eating has achieved us the National Healthy School Status.
