Phonics

We are thrilled to be a Success for All Partner School, a testament to our commitment to academic excellence and pupil success. Through this partnership, we have implemented effective strategies to improve early reading skills, ensuring that every child has a strong foundation for future achievements on our journey towards creating a community of lifelong learners!

Here at Sladefield Infant School we have invested in the Success for all program.  This is a detailed and systematic program for teaching phonic skills, with the aim of children becoming fluent readers by age of seven years old.  It has been validated by the DFE.
 
  • A complete Phonics teaching programme
  • Based on the Letters and Sounds progression
  • Clear structure of six phases which include reading, writing and spelling
  • Parental Portal to support children's home learning.  
  • Validated by DfE
We started using this resource in Reception in January 2022, and began implementation in Year 1 in September 2022, followed by Year 2 in September 2023.
