As a school, we want to make sure that we are doing the very best to find opportunities to increase sustainability.
We have an active Eco-Committee (Eco-Heroes) made up of 10 Key Stage 1 pupils who meet regularly to discuss and make decisions about how we can be more sustainable.
We have recently made the decision to carry out the following actions:
- have a 'food waste' bin outside so as to produce our own compost
- produce posters to remind everyone to turn taps off after use
- produce posters to ask everyone to turn lights off when rooms are not in use
- use our 'Eco Heroes' as Light Monitors
- hold a class competition to see which class travels to school in the most eco-friendly way
- hold a 'No Electricity' afternoon in classrooms during the Summer Term
The Sustainability Team have also worked together to create a Climate Action Plan which outlines actions that the school will take to improve the school's Carbon Footprint. Please take a read of our Climate Action Plan below.
